Grant's First Football Game

Grant's first football game was in Claremore on Saturday night.

That's Grant in the center setting up the tee for a kick. All those years of soccer are really paying off for him. He's a great kicker!
That's him in the center with his hand in the air getting ready to kick.
This is a really blurry picture of Grant kicking.

Brady's First Football Game

Brady's first football game was Saturday afternoon at Union's Tuttle Stadium. They got to run onto the field through a banner held by the cheerleaders. The cheerleaders were waiting for them after the game to give each of the players some candy. :)
Brady is number 48.

This weekend are the boys' first football games. Grant and Brady were pretty excited to wear their jerseys to school like the rest of their team.

Drew's first day of school

Drew started kindergarten today. I can't believe my baby is in school all day now. For almost eleven years I've had babies and toddlers and preschoolers around me all the time, and now, when all three kids went off to school today, there was only one way to describe my day...QUIET! I have mixed emotions about Drew being in school, but he couldn't wait to go. And, he loved his first day, so I can't help but be happy for him.
I guess we're on to a new chapter in our lives...

First Day of School 2010

Grant and Brady on their first day of school. Drew starts on Friday.
Grant is in 5th grade this year
Brady is in 4th grade.
I think they're really going to miss each other this year after being together all the time for homeschool last year. They were both so excited for their first day this morning, so I think we're off to a great start of a great year.

Are you ready for some football?

Grant and Brady are playing football for the first time this year, and so Drew has become obsessed with the sport. If anyone was made to play football, it was Drew. He's been built like a football player from the very beginning.
Our good friend Mollie gave us her son's football equipment that he had outgrown, and Drew loves to wear it. He puts on full pads and goes out in the backyard to do tackling drills with Grant and Brady. He can hold his own, that's for sure. He's one tough little guy.

Tulsa Kids Triathlon

The Tulsa Kids Triathlon was last Saturday, and this year Grant decided to do the long course. He swam 150 meters, biked 2 miles, and ran a mile. Our friends Dallin, Vance and Cyle were there competing as well.

Grant decided to swim each of his laps doing a different stroke. Here's his freestyle. (He's the one with his arm out of the water)
Then he switched to breaststroke.
Lastly, he did the backstroke to catch a little breather before he switched back to freestyle.
Here he is coming into the transition area after his biking.
Leaving for his 1 mile run
The Fan Club
Woo-hoo! The finish line is in sight!

We were so proud of Grant for finishing this triathlon especially since the temps were over 100 degrees that day. It was HOT!

Drew and Brady's triathlon

Drew and Brady chose to do the shorter triathlon course. Brady zoomed through it, so I think he'll be ready for the long course next year. You're supposed to be ages 6-15 to enter this tri, but we got permission for Drew to do it even though he is only 5. It was hard for him, but he finished all on his own! Parents couldn't help in the transition area or anything, so this was a big deal for him.
Trent came to cheer the boys on
(ok, so he was there cheering his own brothers on, but he did cheer for our kids, too)
Lined up...waiting to swim
Brady running out after his swim
Drew heading out of the pool to the transition area

And, this is where I shine as a parent...
my camera battery AND my video camera battery died at this point. So, no pictures of Drew and Brady running and crossing the finish line. No pictures of them getting medals on stage. I seriously blew it on this one!

Colorado Springs Vacation

A couple of weeks ago, the boys and I packed up and hit the road for an 11 hour drive to Colorado Springs. We met Steph and her kids there for a little vacation. We have missed the Wixoms so much since they moved in December, and we were dying to see them. The kids picked up right where they left off and had a blast spending a few days with their friends.
This will definitely not be the last summer vacation we do together...it was so much fun! Our seven kids mesh really well together. This is the second road trip we've done in the past year with just us and all the kids, and both times we've been pleasantly surprised at how easy our kids made it for us.
The first morning we did some hiking at Garden of the Gods. It was my favorite thing we did on this trip. So beautiful!

Grant hiked up with my camera and took this picture of Steph and I waiting below.
These two were planning out how they could be roomates at BYU someday.
Cute little family
I love my boys!
