Easter Sunday

We had a wonderful Easter Sunday. After church, we headed to my mom and dad's house for lunch with all the family. My mom had made a delicious meal, and it was nice to relax and chat with everyone.

When we were done eating, the kids put on an Easter program. Grant and Brady narrated the account from the Bible, and Mazee, Kaylee, Brent and Drew held up pictures to go with the story. The little kids even had some small speaking parts, too. It was a really special way to remind the kids why we celebrate Easter.

Next, we had our annual family Easter egg hunt. The weather was cold and rainy, so we had to stay inside. We split the house into 3 zones, divided the kids by age, and let them hunt in their designated zone. It was really fun. My mom even found some talking eggs that would say stuff like, "I'm here, come and get me." They were especially fun to hunt for.

We were happy that my grandmother, Mimi, was able to be there with us for Easter. We all love spending time with her. She told us a story of a time when she hunted Easter eggs as a child. They were hunting eggs and came across a bootlegger's stash of alcohol hidden in the grass. She said as they found more eggs, they would also find more of the hidden stash. Pretty funny! Mimi's stories are always entertaining.

Last, but not least, we finished off the evening by dying eggs. We had hunted plastic eggs since we were inside the house, so we saved the real eggs for later.

Happy Easter!

Easter Egg Hunt #2

Today we went to an Easter egg hunt at a local church. It was massive. There were over 50,000 eggs there, plus free jupiter jumps and hot dogs. We ran into quite a few friends, so that made it even more fun.

Drew was really sick yesterday, so I was glad he felt good enough to go to the Easter egg hunt today. Yea for antibiotics!

Drew found so many eggs they wouldn't all fit in his basket. He was pretty proud of his stash.
Among the 50,000 eggs were 1 silver and 1 gold egg in each age division. They could be redeemed for the "special prizes". Nick was talking strategy with Grant and Brady before their hunt on how to find the prize eggs.

Drew and I took a few pictures of ourselves while we waited for Grant and Brady to get done hunting.

Brady had his eye on the prize and was running past all the other eggs looking for the silver and gold one. His quest was successful, and he came away with a silver egg!!!

He got a $25 gift card to Toys R Us. He said it was "pretty much the best day ever."

Decorating Easter Eggs

The boys had a sleepover this weekend with their friends Micah and Cole and their cousin Brent. We decided to color eggs while they were over. After they dyed eggs, they started dying popcorn, grapes, and basically anything else they could find lying around. They also experimented with leaving an egg in the dye for a couple of hours. (FYI-it starts to eat away at the shell. Pretty cool science experiment)

And, they're off!

Drew and his cousin, Brent, searching for eggs.

There were lots of kids, so the eggs were gone pretty quickly.

They liked running around even when all the eggs were gone. After the egg hunt, we played with our friends on the playground for awhile.

Drew and Sydney had fun playing in the sand.

Brady and Grant hunted eggs, too, but they were across the park with the other older kids. They were too far away for me to get any pictures of them. My kids mostly ended up with eggs filled with cheap candy like tootsie rolls, but Brady also found a large chocolate teddy bear that said "I love you". Nothing says Easter like leftover Valentine candy.

Spring Snow

It was so unusual to get this much snow the last week in March. The kids and Nick started building an igloo, and got just this far before they decided it would be more fun to have a snowball fight.
Nick was cheating at the snowball fight, and throwing snow with his shovel. He threw a big lump of snow at Drew and it knocked Drew down. Drew didn't seem to mind. He thought it was pretty funny.

Drew was on the attack throwing snowballs at his brothers.

He was smart enough to throw and then run away before they could get him back.

It was fun while it lasted. The snow was all gone the next day. Crazy Oklahoma weather!
