Homeschool Skating

This past week we went roller blading at a local skating rink for their "homeschool skate". Skating brought back tons of memories for me of the roller rink when I was a kid, and they even played some of the same music. It was one of the most fun things we've done in a long time, and I'm sure we'll go back soon. Grant said he was proud of me for "only falling once". :)

I helped Drew with his first lap around the rink, and after that he was on his own. He definitely didn't want my help and actually he didn't really need it.

Here are the boys with their friends Jared, Justin and Faith.

My little hairdresser

Mazee and Emmy were getting ready to go to the hospital to see their new brother and it was time to do their hair. Emmy handed the brush to Drew, so he did her hair for her. Pretty cute, isn't she? Then, Drew asked Mazee if she wanted him to fix her hair and she agreed. Drew brushed her hair for at least 5 minutes trying to get it "just right". I thought it was pretty funny. Drew and Mazee have had a lot of fun being neighbors in Cleveland.

So long, farewell...

My dear friend Valerie is moving to Nebraska this week, and while I know that it's a good thing for their family, I'm so sad that she's leaving! She's a great friend and a fabulous running partner. We went to Los Cabos for dinner to say goodbye. I'm thinking of it not as a "goodbye", but more like a "see you when you visit really soon". (that guest room is waiting for you, Valerie)

Welcome to the Family!

I'm so excited that Heather and Steve had a precious new baby this week and that...it's a BOY! Trey Michael was born on Wednesday night and he is soooo cute!

I happen to think that I have the most adorable nieces and nephews in the world. I just love all of them!

Drew's first soccer game

Drew is loving soccer. He is so happy to be out there playing. He thinks it's great that Grant and Brady come to cheer for him since he's been cheering for them for 4 years. Probably his favorite part is that he's on the same team as Brent. Every morning Drew wakes up and asks if he has soccer practice that day. I love his enthusiasm!
My camera is missing, so I don't have any good pictures of him playing, but here are a couple I snapped with my phone. Doesn't he look so old?

Happy 10th Birthday Grant!

I honestly can't believe Grant is 10 already...where does the time go?
It was perfect that Grant's birthday fell on Labor Day this year so we could have a party with all of his friends that day since everyone was out of school. For his party this year, we went to LaserQuest for a couple of games of laser tag with 11 of his friends.
The next day Nick asked us to stop by our lot so he could give Grant a present he had picked out for him. I can't even describe how excited Grant was to see this go-cart waiting for him. When we move, we'll have the perfect backyard for riding go carts, so this was an awesome gift!

Brady also got one so they could ride and race together. I didn't get a picture of the other go-cart, but it's a little larger for the really big kid in our family. (Nick) He said he bought it so he could give Drew rides, but I'm not so sure about that. :)
I don't know who was the most excited to ride--Grant and Brady or Nick.

BYU vs. OU

The BYU/OU game was the main reason we went to Dallas for the weekend, and it was definitely worth the trip. The new Cowboys stadium was amazing, we had fun cheering with our family and friends, and BYU (surprisingly) beat OU!Conflicted fans?
Grant and Cole were true Y fans from the start.

The new stadium is the largest in the world. There were over 75,000 people at the game. We sat in the BYU section, but as you can see our family was split on who they were cheering for. For me, it felt weird to cheer against OU, but I really wanted BYU to win.

The screen was unbelievably HUGE!

Our seats were in the nosebleed section...literally the next to the top row in the entire stadium. We didn't care! We were just happy to be there!

Go BYU!

Go OU!

Grant was jumping up and down when BYU scored their second touchdown to take the lead. Neither one of us had a voice left from screaming so much.

Steve pulled off his OU shirt to reveal his BYU shirt underneath as soon as BYU was ahead.

Brady took the loss hard. He is a die hard OU fan, and he was upset!

It was a perfect weekend!

I was so happy to run into my friends at the game. I knew Kressyda would be there from Laredo, and I was hoping to see her. I was thrilled to see that they were sitting just one row away from us. Everytime I take a picture with Kress and Lauren I feel so tall. :)

Labor Day Weekend

We spent Labor Day weekend at the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, TX. We met my family there, and Grant's friend Cole went with us, too. My kids love everything about this hotel--from the water park to the arcade to MagiQuest. I love it because you never have to leave to be entertained. It's so easy to find something fun to do every second of the day.

Camel Rides

Last week we went to the zoo for a homeschool field trip. The boys got a chance to ride this camel. It has been perfect zoo weather lately, and I love it! This has been the coolest August I can remember and it's been so nice to be outside.

Cub Scout

Brady turned 8 this summer, so his first experience with cub scouts was camp in June. A couple of weeks ago was his first den meeting, and here he is looking so grown up in his uniform.

OU vs. BYU

Months ago we bought tickets to this game...there was no way we were going to miss out! We're headed to Texas tomorow morning to spend a couple of days at the Great Wolf Lodge before the game. We have friends and lots of family joining us. It seriously has the makings of a perfect weekend.
The only problem is...I love OU football and I'm an Okie through and through, but BYU is my Alma Mater! Who do I cheer for? I'm going to have to go with BYU, but I'll be happy no matter who comes out on top. Brady is going dressed head to toe in OU gear and Grant will be decked out in BYU attire. I can't wait!
