Happy 5th Birthday Drew!

I honestly can't believe my baby turned 5 this week. Wow! Our kids are growing up so fast.
We had a really busy week, so I planned to have Drew's party next week sometime. He woke up on Wednesday morning (the day before his birthday), and said, "Tomorow is going to be the greatest day of my life. I can't wait for my party!" When I told him we were going to have his party next week, he was sad to say the least.
So, being the wonderful/crazy mom that I am, I decided to quickly throw a party for him the next day.
He wanted a batman pinata and a scavenger hunt. Putting together the scavenger hunt was easy. But finding a batman pinata? Not so much. I looked at 3 different stores before I gave up and bought a soccer ball instead. I let Drew decorate the pinata with batman stickers, and called it good.

Drew had such a great time at his party.
The scavenger hunt was a huge hit, but just playing with his friends in the playroom was probably his favorite part. Hooray for low stress parties that you can throw together in 24 hours!

We're having our family over on Sunday afternoon so we can celebrate Drew's birthday one more time with his cousins. You can never have too many birthday celebrations!

Good friends and Good food

Steph was in town last weekend, so we had a few friends over for a shrimp boil.

It was a good thing Jessica was there because I had no clue what I was doing. I'd never even been to a shrimp boil before, so even though it was at our house, I didn't know what to expect.
Apparently you dump the food right on the table and go for it! No plates or utensils!
It was a unique experience for the kids, too. We had 9 little boys and no girls at dinner. What are the chances? We had 3 families here who all have 3 boys each.

What a good husband...helping in the kitchen. :)
The next night Steph, Cory and Jessica came over for girls movie night in our media room. We watched a movie, ate lots of junk food, and had some good quality girl bonding time.

It was so fun to have Stephanie visit for the weekend, and I hated to say goodbye one more time. Come back and visit anytime!

Playing catch up

I can't believe I got this behind on my blog. A month is a long time to catch up on, but especially with the crazy month we've had. Since I last blogged on December 15th, we've moved, celebrated our 13th anniversary, celebrated Christmas and New Years, celebrated me turning 35 (half way to 70 as one of my kids mentioned), and Drew started going to pre-k everyday. It's been a busy month. Maybe that explains why I haven't blogged.

My New Year's Resolution is to go to bed earlier, and it's 12:20 a.m. right now. I guess I'm not doing too well with my resolution and it's only the second week of January. Oops!
I guess more blog posts will have to wait until tomorow.

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas...

It rarely snows like this in Oklahoma, so it was so exciting to wake up to a white Christmas. This was the view from our back door. The snow drifts were crazy. Tons of snow in some places, and not so much in others.

It was fun to play out in the snow after we opened our presents on Christmas morning.

Christmas Day

We had an amazing Christmas this year. We moved into our new house just 4 days before Christmas, so that made it really special. We enjoyed Christmas morning hanging out in our pj's and playing with the kids' new toys. Then all my family braved the crazy snowy weather and came over for Christmas dinner later in the day. It was a fun day!
**I'm embarrassed that I only took a couple of pictures at Christmas. It's not like me to not be snapping a picture every few seconds. I think I was still in shock over getting moved in and getting partially unpacked in time to have a normal Christmas. Plus, I still can't find my charger for my camera battery, so these are still lousy pictures from my iphone. **

Waiting to see what Santa brought...

The kids all got skateboards and new scooters for Christmas, but it was so snowy that they couldn't ride them.

Lego Rock Band was the number one present of the year. The kids (and grown ups) have had a blast with it. Playing it in our new media room makes it even more exciting.

Mimi, my 92 year old grandmother, joined us for Christmas day. I love this picture of Mimi with our kids.

Cousin Sleepover

The weekend before Christmas my mom and dad had a cousin sleepover at their house. All the cousins (ok, not ALL the cousins...but all the cousins that sleep throught the night) slept over at their house. Grammie and Gramps gave all the kids their new Christmas jammies to sleep in. Fun memories! The next morning happened to be our moving day!!! Yipee!
