Beautiful day at the Zoo

It seems like spring has had a hard time getting here this year. It's been cold and even snowy lately. Finally last week we had a beautiful sunny and warm day, so we decided to head to the zoo. Grandma and Grandpa Spinar were visiting from Washington so they came with us and Drew's friends Owen and Jonathon came along as well.

Grant pulled Drew, Jonathon and Owen all over the zoo in this wagon.
Gotta love the petting zoo! Drew will miss his buddy Owen when he moves to Oklahoma City this week.

The animals were so calm and content. I think they were loving the warm temps as much as we were.

The whole gang on the train

I wouldn't let Drew wear a costume to the zoo like he wanted, so he settled for binoculars and a backpack. He said he was a secret agent.

What a lovely day at the zoo!

The Purple Glaze

Another fun thing we did while Mary Ellen and Don were here was a field trip to The Purple Glaze pottery studio. The kids all chose dragons to paint. I can't wait to pick up the finished product in a couple of days after they are glazed and fired.

Talent Night

Tonight for Enrichment Night at church we had a talent night. I feel like I have lots of talents, but not so much the kind of talents that you perform on a stage. I don't sing or dance or any of those typical things. Thankfully, my friend Jasmine came up with the fabulous idea of putting together a kazoo band. We performed "Row, Row, Row your boat" in a round, and I'm sure the crowd was in awe. I loved watching many of my friends perform, and I was amazed at what talented friends I have.

NCAA Tournament

It was so exciting that the first round of the NCAA tournament was in Oklahoma City this year, and even more exciting that BYU was playing in this region. The boys (Nick, Grant, Brady, Steve and Ben) and I spent the day at the Ford Center cheering on the Cougars. We couldn't have asked for a better game. A double overtime win over Florida...awesome!

Here's the score that send it into overtime the first time.

Why is it fun to go to basketball games with dad? Cotton candy, dippin dots, hot dogs, pop, and a funnel cake. Yep. All during one game.

The score that sent it into the second overtime. BYU finally took charge and won! Woo-hoo!
Go Cougars!!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Grant and Brady thought it would be fun to celebrate St. Patrick's Day by inviting a bunch of their friends over for green pancakes in the morning.

We made lots and lots of green pancakes and bacon.

Of course Drew was dressed up in costume as always.

Not long after breakfast, they turned our house into a war zone. Literally. There were bases all over the house upstairs and down, and every kid was using a bow and arrow, sword, or nerf gun. They wore our yellow soccer practice jerseys to separate out the teams.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Chess anyone?

We're slowly but surely furnishing our new house. One area that we couldn't figure out what to do with was the space in between the kitchen and living room. We had lots of ideas, but couldn't make up our minds for sure. We finally settled on putting this chess table and swivel chairs, and so far it's been a hit. I think we made the right decision. The kids and their friends have spent hours playing chess this week.

Relaxing Sunday

Today has been the most relaxing Sunday. Since we got home from church, the kids have played so nicely together. Ahhh...I just love peace and harmony.

Brady and Drew worked for a long time on this contraption. It's a motorized back massager and it really works! Come on over and they'll give you a back massage.

Drew has been the cuddliest kid on the planet lately. I just love it! He's always getting in my lap and giving me a hug or kiss. It's so sweet to have my rough and tough little boy being so lovey.

This is week is spring break, so we're looking forward to lots and lots of fun!

Kimberly Clark Field Trip

We were invited to attend this homeschool engineering day at Kimberly Clark. The kids got to learn how toilet paper is made, learn about the different kind of engineers that work at K.C., and they also got to do hands on science experiments and make their own paper. Grant and Brady learned so much and had such a fantastic time. They are now convinced that when they grow up they either want to be some type of engineer, work for Kimberly Clark, or start their own paper company.

But, until that day comes, they are content to make paper at home. Using my blender...
and the bathtub.

Who knew you could make paper out of dryer lint? I bet you all can't wait for your Christmas present from us this year!!!

Camo and Carhartts

When we got to the ski resort in Missouri, our first impression was that the ski attire was definitely different in Missouri than in Utah. Apparently Camo and Carhartts are the official clothing suppliers of Snow Creek, MO.

Awesome!
