Drew's Soccer Season

This is my cute little under 6 team. These kids are all Drew's friends, so it was fun to have enough of us to make a team. It's been so long since I've coached under 6 soccer...it's definitely different than coaching the older boys! I had a blast with these funny, spirited and very happy kids.

My rough and tough soccer player is still my sweet little baby. :)

Drew was number 57

Drew pretending to be a transformer on the field. We had kids dancing, picking flowers, transforming, being robots, and pretty much anything else you can think of.
Goal kick

I had to include this picture because this was my favorite play of the season. I'm so glad Grant captured it on film. Riley (the little girl) was such a cutie all season long, but she's pretty shy. The entire first game, I had to run up and down the field holding her hand to even keep her on the field. (Too bad we don't have a picture of that!) We finally got her to the point where she would play on her own, but she was pretty entertaining to watch all season long. In this picture, she was picking a flower during the game and stopped the other team from scoring a goal when the ball bounced off her head. She had no idea there was even a game going on around her. Too cute!

Mother's Day

We had lots of family over for Mother's Day dinner. It was a great day celebrating with my mom, grandmother, and sister-in-law who are all amazing moms that I love dearly.

Rock Band... Mother's Day Style

My brother is the best at coming up with fun ideas for the kids to do. On Mother's Day, he convinced them to put together a rock video complete with costumes. We're still waiting to see the edited version when Steve gets done working on it. Too funny!

He even got Mimi in on the action!

Best Friends

The night before our half marathon, Sarah, Cathy, Stacee and I met for dinner then came back to my house to hang out. I seriously love these girls! Sarah and Cathy have been my friends since the first grade, and Stacee has been our friend since the minute she moved to Cleveland in 8th grade. We don't see each other enough anymore, but when we get together it's so much fun. I haven't laughed that much for a long time.

Pray for Stevie

Many of you know my darling cousin Stevie. She is one of my favorite people in the world. She's so funny, totally energetic (she teaches boot camp classes for a living), and all around just the sweetest person. Less than a week ago she found out that she has a large brain tumor, and she is preparing to have brain surgery on Monday at MD Anderson hospital in Houston. To read her ongoing journey to fight this tumor, check out her blog prayforstevie.blog.com Stevie has so much faith and could really use all of our prayers right now.

Half Marathon

Yesterday I ran my first half marathon. This is a huge accomplishment because distance running is always a struggle for me.

The night before the race, my friend Cathy spent the night. Cathy and I have been friends since 1st grade, but we haven't run together since high school basketball practice. It was so fun that she decided to run this race and drove up from Tahlequah to spend the night. Here we are at 6 in the morning, getting ready to leave for the race.

These are my 5:45 a.m. running buddies. I love these girls for being supportive, motivating and fun while we've been training. I'm so proud of all of us for finishing the race!
Cathy, Melanie and I stuck together for the first 9 miles. It was so much easier to run with them next to me. The last 4 miles were definitely more of a struggle for me.
And...we're off! Here we are at the beginning of the race. We felt so energetic at this point.

Here I am at mile 12.5. Almost there!
Approaching the finish line!
Just a few more feet...
I finished! 13.1 miles in 2 hours, 14 minutes, and 27 seconds. I thought I could run it a little faster, but overall I was pretty happy with my time. I learned some things for sure that I'll do different next time.

My cute little fan club.
So now the big decision is...do I train for a full marathon or run some more half marathons?

No more training wheels

Drew decided he wanted to learn to ride his bike without training wheels. But first he had to go in the house to change into a costume so he would look "cooler". Nothing is cooler than a costume, bike helmet, sunglasses and crocs. Pretty much the coolest outfit ever.
We decided to rotate his training wheels so they weren't touching the ground, but we could easily put them back in case he changed his mind. We should have just taken them off. Once he got on the first time, he took off and rode down the street.

Easter

Somehow, in trying to catch up on my blog, I realized that I forgot to post pictures of Easter. Better late than never...

We had our family over for Easter dinner after watching conference together. We had lots and lots of yummy food.

And lots and lots of fun with our family.
