Arrow of Light

We are so proud of Grant! He received his Arrow of Light award this week. That's the highest award you can receive in Cub Scouts. He is now a Boy Scout, and he's pretty excited about that.
Pinning the Arrow of Light pin on mom. It's hard to pin something on your mom when she's 6 feet tall! It's a good thing I do a lot of squats.
Bro Dickerson was there to welcome him into boy scouts and give him the scout coin.
Walking across the bridge from cub scouts to boy scouts. Bro McDorman made him this cool arrow to take home to remind him of this special night.
We're really proud of Grant for setting a good example for his younger brothers.

SoJo Half Marathon

This weekend I was able to take a really short trip to Salt Lake to visit Stephanie and run a half marathon with her. I flew in Friday night, and the next morning we got up early (we're talking 5 a.m. here) and caught a bus that took us to the starting line for the Sojo Half Marathon.
We laughed when we saw that we had the exact same Brooks running shoes. I guess great minds think alike.
Here we are...bright and early....getting ready to hop on the bus.

And here we are right after we finished. This was Stephanie's first half marathon, and she rocked it! We had an awesome time running together, and this was one of the easiest long runs I've done. I honestly felt great, and the miles went by so quickly. The scenery was beautiful, the dry Utah air felt great on my lungs, and the course was downhill almost the entire way. And, of course, Steph was just a really fun running partner. It was just a perfect morning for a race.
That night we were able to go to the R.S. Broadcast at the Conference Center. It was a really amazing experience.
We also had time for lots and lots of good food, a little shopping, and lots of laughs. I have a feeling we'll be doing another weekend like this sometime in the near future.

Sunday, I was able to go spend a few hours with our great friends Brett and Julie and their darling kids. Julie cooked the most delicious dinner for us, and I loved having some time to catch up with them. We are looking forward to their visit in June! :)

Sunday night I was back at home, and the boys hardly missed me! Grant and Brady loved their boys weekend with Nick, and Drew was thrilled that he got to stay with his cousins.
It was a great weekend all around!

Brady's Wrist Fracture

Poor Brady fractured his right wrist at football practice on Thursday night. He's such a tough kid that he finished the last hour of practice before he told anyone he was hurting. The doctor said the fracture is in a place that should heal quickly, so hopefully he'll be back to playing football before the end of the season.
Here's the lego set that he got since we all felt sorry for him. Pretty impressive that he put it together with one and a half hands!

Grant's First Boy Scout Campout

Tonight Grant and Nick are headed to the Stake 11 year old Boy Scout campout. It's pretty exciting that this campout was scheduled for the week after Grant's birthday so he was able to go. As you can see by this picture, he was pretty happy to be taking his pocket knife with him!

Drew's first soccer game

Drew is playing on a new soccer team this season. It's the cutest little team made up of boys that we go to church with. Erica is such a cute coach and makes it really fun for them. She has so much patience with these crazy little boys!
Go Striking Lightning!!!
Drew is number 3.
Waiting for the kick off.
Taking a goal kick. I love the fierce look on his face. :)
It was so fun to watch their first game. Then we ran to the football stadium for back to back football games where Brady's team won 12-6 and Grant's team won 35-0.
I love sports filled Saturdays!

Grant's Birthday

Wow...how time flies! I can't believe Grant is already 11. He is lucky to have a birthday that falls near Labor Day weekend, so we partied all weekend long.

On Saturday morning, we had a few of Grant's friends over for homemade cinnamon rolls (he wanted that instead of cake this year). They spent a couple of hours riding go carts and playing video games. Then, we took them out on the boat for the rest of the day. We tubed, wake boarded, wake surfed and swam at Skiatook Lake, and it was a perfect day!
On Monday, after spending another fun day at the lake with our family, we had a family birthday party for Grant at my mom and dad's house.

Tuesday was Grant's actual birthday, so he spent it at school and football practice. We did find time for birthday pancakes in the morning, and ice cream with some friends after school.
