Easter

Somehow, in trying to catch up on my blog, I realized that I forgot to post pictures of Easter. Better late than never...

We had our family over for Easter dinner after watching conference together. We had lots and lots of yummy food.

And lots and lots of fun with our family.

Easter Morning

Brent slept over the night before Easter, and the Easter bunny brought Brent and Drew both this How to Train Your Dragon gear. The Easter Bunny is the best! I love the boys' faces in these pictures. I think they were trying to look tough. Pretty convincing, huh?

Full Moon 5K

Trent, Brady, Grant and Cade getting ready to run the 1 mile fun run

My brother and I, along with 2300 other runners, ran the 5k. My time was 26:15, and I was pumped that it was 15 seconds faster than last week even with all the people to dodge. I am so ready to run the half marathon this Saturday. Bring it on!

Soccer Action Shots

Here are a few pics of Grant and Brady's soccer season. Grant is #5 and Brady is #4. They are pretty much the same height now, so all season long our fans were yelling for the wrong Heinig kid. They don't look that similar to me, but everyone else seems to think they look just alike.

Grant putting his soccer skills to good use.
Grant and Brady both filled in at goalie at the end of the season when our goalie was missing. This is Grant above punting the ball, and Brady below with a sweet stop.

Yummy!

I love my husband. He does so many sweet things for me. For instance, last week he came home with flowers, and it wasn't even a special occasion. He's the best!
He's also a really great dad. The kids love when I'm gone, and they get to hang out with just Nick. Apparently "dad time" is way fun.

For example, I was gone the other night, and he decided to make chocolate chip cookies for the kids. Hooray for awesome dad! While the cookies were baking, he decided to play video games with the kids. (you can see why it's fun when I'm gone, right? ) Score two points for dad!
Then, he and the boys got so involved in their video game, that they baked the chocolate chip cookies for 45 minutes instead of 9. Oops!
Our house smelled like burnt cookies for 2 days. Yummy!

U10 Tigers

This season is the 10th season I've coached soccer. It's CRAZY how time flies. I started coaching when Grant was only 6 years old. This has been one of my favorite teams ever. All but 1 of these kids have played soccer or basketball for me in the past, and 5 of the 10 go to church with us. My kids have looked forward to every single practice and game, and I know it's because of the kids on our team. They're a fun, crazy, great group of boys.
We had two games a couple of hours apart a few weeks ago, so the entire team went to Braum's to eat in between games. Nothing like hamburgers, fries and milkshakes to get you ready to play your second game!

Our last game was on Saturday, and I was actually pretty sad because it will be the last time I coach Grant and Brady in soccer. Grant will move up to under 12 next year, and it is way beyond my coaching abilities. I'm so glad we've had these 10 seasons together. I've loved every single minute of it.

Oklahoma Science Museum

Last week we went to the Oklahoma Science Museum for a homeschool field trip. I have loved this place since I was a kid--back when it was known as the Omniplex. Educational+Fun=happy kids and a happy mom.
The Segway course was a new exhibit, and it was a blast! I even got in on the action and rode around a couple of times.

Of all the hands on exhibits, our boys loved the building ones the best. They take after their dad for sure!

Drew worked and worked on this peg wall. I think he could have stayed there all day.

Cinco de Mayo 5k

Emily and I ran the Cinco de Mayo 5k last night. It is a such a fun race. I ran it last year and couldn't wait to run it again. I've been training for the Aquarium half marathon which is in a couple of weeks, so I haven't run many short fast runs lately. I wasn't sure what my time would be, so I was really happy to finish with a time of 26:30. I'm signed up for another 5k next Saturday, then the half marathon the next weekend. There's seriously nothing like the feeling of finishing a race. I love it!

Stake Activity

It's our Stake's 50th Anniversary this year, so there was a Stake activity in Bartlesville Saturday to celebrate. There was a service project, barbeque, and outdoor games. We came straight from soccer (as usual), and made it just a few minutes late. Our kids loved the games the most, and especially the 3 legged races.

Drew and his best bud Jonathon were partners.

Grant and Brady teamed up.

Oxley Nature Center

Grant is getting very close to earning his Arrow of Light in Cub Scouts, but he still needed to go on two hikes. On Wednesday we decided to take a break from school, and I took my kids and the Riddoch kids to Oxley Nature Center. We didn't see too many animals, but we spotted quite a few animal tracks. Plus we saw a couple of snakes, and the boys loved that. It was a neat adventure, and Grant is now one step closer to being done with cub scouts!

Drew's 5 year old check up

Drew went to the doctor this week for his five year old check up. He is, of course, off the charts for height and weight, and otherwise healthy. He was appalled that he had to wear this ugly tiger gown, but thrilled that he got to give a urine sample. He thought "peeing in a cup" was the coolest thing ever.

LaFortune Park

The kids and I met my mom at LaFortune park one afternoon for a picnic. It felt so good to be outside, and we had fun eating, chatting with Grammie and playing by the creek. It was really a perfect afternoon.

Homeschool Fun

One of the best things about homeschooling this year has been the field trips. Incredible Pizza does a homeschool day every couple of months. They do cool educational presentations and hands on activities. This particular day, one of the activities was African drumming.

The Tulsa 66ers are a NBA development team. During the first round of playoffs, they had a home game at noon. The boys and I took the afternoon off from school, had lunch and watched some basketball. It was a great afternoon. I'm going to miss these boys next year when they're at school!

Nope, it's not Halloween.

I just had to get my camera out and snap this picture of Drew. We were going into the assisted living center to visit my grandmother, and this is what Drew looked like. He would wear costumes everywhere if I'd let him, and this particular day it just wasn't worth the fight. I'm sure all the elderly people living there just can't wait for us to visit. It's always an adventure when we walk through the door!
