"Ring Bell for Service"

Drew was watching cartoons the other day and I heard him yell, "Mom, when I ring the bell bring me some oatmeal." Then he started ringing the bell over and over and over. Later in the day I hear the bell ringing again. This time when I came into the living room, he said "I'll have my snack now." What do I look like--room service?
Seriously, this kid cracks me up!

Where's Nick?

Ok, so Nick has been missing from a lot of our pictures and activities lately. Before any of you go and start a rumor that he's run off to Tahiti or something, check out my other blog heinigshouse.blogspot.com. (There is also a link on my blog list under "Our New House") He has been busy, busy, busy not only general contracting, but also doing most of the work on our new house. We probably won't see too much of him for the next 6 months or so, but we're excited about the project.
We hope to build this house and stay in it forever, so we wanted to document the process. If any of you want to follow our progress, check back for weekly updates.

Last Day of School!

Today is the last day of school! It's been a really great year. Grant and Brady have both had amazing teachers, and that has made this school year a wonderful experience. They are ready for summer and so am I. I'm anxious for all the adventures that summer brings, and I especially can't wait to hit the pool and the lake.
Grant leaving for his last day of 3rd grade
This is Brady on the last day of school. SO SICK! Poor kid started throwing up so I gave him his epi pen because I thought he was having an allergic reaction. Turns out it must have been a virus or food poisoning because he kept throwing up anyways. He spent his last day of school in bed with a stomach ache and a sore leg from an epi pen that he didn't need after all. What a lousy way to end the year!

Memorial Day

The weather wasn't super warm on Memorial Day, so instead of going to the lake we went to Incredible Pizza. We had a great time! Brady was so excited that he is FINALLY tall enough to drive the go-karts by himself. Yea!

Let's go on a trip!

We went on a trip to San Antonio and Corpus Christi this week. Nick stayed home to work on our new house, so my mom and dad came with us. We were so happy that Ben and Alicia let Brent go with us, too. It was a great trip from start to finish.
When we first got there we went to the Riverwalk in San Antonio. We ate at the Rainforest Cafe which was a really unique place to eat.
Then we took a walk to the Alamo. The kids enjoyed being there, and Grant especially like learning about everything that had happened at the Alamo.

SeaWorld

One of the best parts of our trip was going to SeaWorld. Kressyda and her kids Elliot and Olive drove up from Laredo to spend the day with us. Cameron even joined us for part of the day. It was so nice to spend some time with our good friends. We miss them!
My favorite part of Seaworld was feeding and petting the dolphins. What a cool experience!

One of the other highlights of our day was the "Believe" show with Shamu the whale. We sat in the splash zone and Grammie and the boys got soaking wet. Somehow my dad, Kressyda and I managed to stay dry. My mom was a good sport.
Brady has always loved Elliott, and he had fun seeing him again.

These two were lucky that Gramps pushed them around all day in this stroller.

Olive was a cutie in Drew's spiderman sunglasses.

Grant and Brady were good sports and rode the Shamu Express little roller coaster with Brent and Drew.
This splash area was a great place to cool down. There is a water park at SeaWorld, but it wasn't open the day we were there.
Hanging out waiting for a snack

Frozen lemonade on a hot day tastes so good!

We visited the penguin encounter at the end of the day. Everyone was starting to get tired by then, and the stroller was the coveted seat.

Drew and Elliott were having a conversation about whether the animal they were looking at was a penguin or a puffin. Drew has missed his little buddy Elliott. I'm glad they remembered each other.
The very last thing we did before we went home was the Texas Splashdown log ride.

It was great that SeaWorld wasn't that busy when we were there, so the lines were really short for everything.

Poor Grammie got the wettest of everyone on the log ride and even in the Shamu show. It just wasn't her day, I guess.

Drew thought the log ride was "AWESOME!"

We had so much fun at Seaworld that we ended up going back the next day even though we hadn't planned on it.

Corpus Christi Beach

Friday we got to go to Corpus Christi and play at the beach.

On Saturday while I ran the marathon relay with Kressyda, my parents took the boys to the USS Lexington. They LOVED touring a retired aircraft carrier and seeing all the cool planes. My mom took pictures, so hopefully she'll send me some. Saturday afternoon we headed back to San Antonio and flew home. Drew and Brent wanted Brady to sit with them instead of sitting with an adult. They were so cute together. I sat across the aisle from them, but they didn't need my help at all.
We made lots of great memories on this trip. It was great to have some good bonding time with Grammie and Gramps. They make everything so much fun. I know the boys will treasure those memories forever.

Beach to Bay Marathon Relay

I got to run the Beach to Bay Marathon Relay on Saturday with Kressyda and 4 of her friends. It was a really fun and unique experience. I ran the first leg which was on the beach at Padre Island. It was really pretty to watch the sun coming up while I ran along the water. I think my leg was the most scenic. I handed off the baton to Kressyda and she headed to the bridge that connects Padre Island with Corpus Christi. The race ended up in Corpus Christi Bay.

USS Lexington

While we ran our marathon relay, my mom and dad took the boys to the USS Lexington. It's a retired aircraft carrier that sits in Corpus Christi Bay.
